Hey what’s going on, everyone.

We’re in the midst of the closed beta. The participating miners are helping us identify and fix major bugs such as issues to do with AMD processors. Our in-house testing primarily focused on Intel, and but for the miners we wouldn’t have gotten our heads around AMD.

Another issue the miners helped us find had to do with conflicts between the software and some graphics cards. Testing all the video adapters out there wouldn’t have been physically possible without the closed-beta testers. Now we offer support for all Nvidia cards above GTX1060.

This just goes to show how lucky we are to have these first miners on the job. They’re all enthusiastic about testing various computer configurations and doing their own experiments on the hardware. To take just one example, they found that four-core processors couldn’t provide top quality for games run on the decentralized platform under real-life conditions. Six cores or more would be the better choice.

A miner’s computer

So far, we’ve launched seven computers, and those are running GTA V. The first 10 miners are receiving a weekly fee of 200 PKT per workstation (paid manually for now).

In the last issue, we talked about our plans to develop an algorithm to automatically select a server depending on how remote the player is and plans to design and implement miner accounts.

The algorithm is now past the first development stage. We taught the platform to predict the ping between player and server (only for historical data for now). We’ll be collecting data on how accurate the predictions are, to make sure the algorithm operates correctly. Then we’ll have it up and running so that users get servers with the lowest ping possible. If, however, prediction accuracy turns out low, we’ll have to figure out how to improve it. Been here, done that.

Miner accounts, on the other hand, are already accessible to beta testers. For now, you can only use your account to enable/disable your virtual machine and check its status (whether someone is using it).

The Server section in a miner’s account

We’re still working on the Sessions section. It will let you view data from your game sessions.

The Sessions section in a miner’s account

That’s all news. But you’ve had your fill for now, haven’t you? Our short-term plans include adding more games to the decentralized platform. To do that, we only need to figure out how to update them automatically. And work is still underway on miner accounts and the algorithm.

That’s it for now. Off to work.

Heads up! We’re recruiting more miners for closed beta testing. Click here to apply.
