System Requirements of Far Cry: New Dawn: what computer can handle a post-apocalypse?

Welcome back to Hope County, Montana. Ubisoft took the path of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Far Cry: Primal, but this time made a sequel of the previous game of the series though the story is set many years later and will take place in post-apocalyptic world. Let’s discuss the hardware required for the new Far Cry: New Dawn.

System Requirements

Ubisoft revealed the minimum system requirements of Far Cry: New Dawn in mid-January. To get an acceptable framerate at 720p on low settings you will need …

· CPU Intel Core-i5 2400 (AMD FX-6350);

· Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 (AMD Radeon R9 270X);

· 8 GB of RAM.

And here are the recommended requirements for 1080p on high settings (the frame rate was not specified):

· Core i7–4790 (Ryzen 5 1600);

· GeForce GTX 970 (AMD Radeon R9 290X);

· 8 GB of RAM.

Far Cry: New Dawn in 4K

According to the new tradition, Ubisoft did not limit itself only to Full HD and HD system requirements. If you want to play New Dawn in 4K at 30 fps, be ready to spend money on something like that…

· Core i7–6700 (Ryzen 5 1600X);

· GTX 1070 (RX Vega 56);

· 16 GB of RAM.

Such PC would cost about $1200, moreover 4K displays are not cheap yet so playing in 4K at 60 fps will be available for those who can afford a pair of GeForce GTX 1080 in SLI (or two RX Vega 56 — in Crossfire) paired with Core i7–6700K (Ryzen 7 1700X) and 16 GB of RAM.

Why is New Dawn so interesting?

As you can see, playing at 1080p on high settings will require at least 4 GB of VRAM. Moreover, Ubisoft didn’t specify the framerate. So is it worth it to spend money on updating your PC or not — it’s up to you. But you can save the money by subscribing to the Playkey.net cloud platform: the game will run on our PCs, while the image will be transferred to your display. You won’t need to keep an eye on hardware market trends, because all the current PC projects are available on our platform when they are released.

However, there is another question — is Far Cry: New Down worth playing? Let’s check.

After the announcement in December, the reaction towards the shooter was ambiguous. Some fans were unhappy with post-apocalypse world and fierce color palette like in Rage 2. Although the scenery was radically changed, Ubisoft was reproached with the fact that the map remained the same, but instead of the Joseph Seed’s cultists, we will get raiders headed by twin sisters Mickey and Lou. By the way, fans didn’t spare them either.

The main thing is to understand that the world that survived the nuclear strike of New Dawn is not something like Mad Max or Fallout. There is no wasteland or mutated people; it looks like radiation was not lethal. Nature is blooming; settlements are spreading — like Prosperity, where the main character find themselves.

There are not many videos in New Dawn, and the plot is pretty crumpled. However, do not rush to compare the game with purely functional add-ons to Far Cry 5. Although it looks more like an add-on, Ubisoft also introduced new gameplay elements as an experiment.

You will continue to explore the open world of Far Cry by feet and by cars, co-opt mercenaries and useful animals to your side, though the focus of the game is “building” the character. You will need to attack Outposts just because of the resources needed for the expansion of Prosperity. The enemies now have levels, which greatly hinders the progress of the plot. Crafting necessary guns (or getting them as a trophy) will take a lot of time. The game got some RPG elements like floating damage, however Ubisoft assures that these elements won’t change the game. While Assassin’s Creed has firmly moved to RPG, Ubisoft is going only to try some experiments in Far Cry.

Because of the great importance of looting, New Dawn has been already compared with Fallout 76. The shooter definitely has some strong advantages: for example, the return Joseph Seed (the connection with the fifth part is not limited) and trips to other parts of USA.

We are sure that you will not miss the new Far Cry even without our advice. The new part is quite different from its predecessors, which could not be said about previous games of Far Cry series.

Both Far Cry 5 and Far Cry: New Dawn are available in the Playkey.net catalog — see you in Montana!
