System requirements of Metro: Exodus — what PC do you need for it?
Three major games were released on February 15: Metro: Exodus, Far Cry: New Dawn and Crackdown 3. Metro: Exodus is probably the most popular — especially in Russia, where the series is loved by no less than S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl.
We decided to check the system requirements, because in addition to the traditional “minimum” and “recommended requirements” 4A Games also provided “High” and “Extreme” requirements.
It’s worth to mention right away: the Metro triquel can fully load even the most modern computer, and playing on high settings requires Windows 10 and 8 GB of video memory.
However, the minimum requirements (1080p/30 fps) are not that scary: Core i5–4440, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 (AMD Radeon HD 7870) and 8 GB of RAM.
That is a pretty affordable configuration, though you will have to put up with numerous performance limitations.
Moreover, recommended requirements (1080p / 60 fps) are much more serious — Core i7–4770K, GeForce RTX 2060 (RX Vega 56) and 8 GB of RAM.
High requirements (for Ultra settings, 1440p / 60 fps) include Core i7–8700K, GeForce RTX 2070 (RX Vega 64) and 16 GB of RAM. Such CPU and GPU would cost about $1200 in total.
And that’s not even all!
There are also Extreme requirements (4K / 60 fps): Core i9–9900K, GeForce RTX 2080 Ti and 16 GB of RAM. Do you remember many games requiring such machines? Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Battlefield 5 — what else?
By the way, do not forget about Denuvo protection, which will certainly negatively affect the performance.
Metro: Exodus will support advanced DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) anti-aliasing Real-Time Ray Tracing, which will significantly improve lighting and reflections.
The game has 2 levels of Real-Time Ray Tracing: “Medium” and “Ultra”. DLSS in 4K is supported by all RTX cards, at 1440p — RTX 2080, 2070 and 2060, at 1080p — RTX 2070 and 2060.
RTX 2060 can run the game with 60 fps with DLSS at 1440p on High settings and Medium ray tracing, while RTX 2070 can run on Ultra settings and Medium DXR, and RTX 2080 — on Ultra settings and Ultra DXR.
If you have RTX 2080 Ti, feel free to set the Ultra settings, turn on DLSS and Ultra DXR.
And in fact, despite the crazy system requirements, you shouldn’t really skip Metro: Exodus. This is an unusual sequel — you will get out of the underground to the surface. Freedom of action at open levels combined with a good plot — isn’t that what you was waiting for?
The average Metacritic rating of PC version is 84 out of 100.
