What games have RTX and DLSS support?
The main features of NVIDIA RTX graphics cards are Real-Time Ray Tracing and DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) anti-aliasing using deep learning algorithms.
Unfortunately, it’s quite difficult to enjoy new technologies just because there is not enough content yet.
RTX in games provides extremely realistic lighting and reflections though there are only two games supporting NVIDIA RTX — Battlefield 5 and Metro: Exodus. And it’s worth mentioning that Real-Time Ray Tracing requires quite a powerful machine.
It was announced that Control, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Justice, JX3, Project DH, Atomic Heart and Enlisted will also get RTX support.
Surprisingly, RTX support also got… Quake 2, an old game from 90s. But don’t get too hyped.
Even RTX 2080 Ti couldn’t hold smooth frame rate in Quake 2, and some locations were completely dark due to conflict of natural and artificial light.
And as for DLSS? Briefly about technology: this is not quite anti-aliasing, but rather advanced AI rendering, that is 2 times faster than video cards of the previous generation.
At the moment, DLSS support is only implemented in Final Fantasy 15 and Metro: Exodus.
In the future, DLSS will be supported by Anthem, Darksiders 3, Hellblade, Hitman 2, Serious Sam 4, Overkill’s The Walking Dead, SCUM, We Happy Few, Deliver Us the Moon: Fortuna, Ark: Survival Evolved, Dauntless, Outpost Zero, Kinetik, Remnant : From the Ashes and The Forge Arena.
There are also a few Battle Royale games: Fear the Wolves, Fractured Lands, Islands of Nyne: Battle Royale, PUBG and Stormdivers.
Atomic Heart, Battlefield 5, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, JX3, Justice and Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be able to support RTX and DLSS simultaneously. For now, work of both technologies can be seen only in Metro: Exodus.
Despite all claims, the work of RTX and DLSS in games is far from ideal. Only demos of Battlefield 5, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Atomic Heart (RTX On/Off) can really show impressive graphics.
NVIDIA itself was not impressed by the RTX series sales in the Q4 2018. According to media, the reasons of lower sales are decrease in crypto mining, lack of content, high prices and amount of hardware resources required for new technologies.
Rushing for RTX and DLSS in games is definitely not worth it at least in the coming years. However there is an alternative option — cloud gaming.
